 Literacy: We started a new story this week! Students were given feedback on their last story and are now working towards specific goals based on personal next steps. As a whole group, we talked lots this week about adding figurative language and how to use dialogue properly and effectively. Math:  We continued working on statistics.  Restart: Students learned about conflict communication this week.  Buddies: Our grade 2 buddies presented their social studies projects to us!   February 4 – Winter Walk Day (Classes will share details of what they are doing for this day closer to the date) February 11 – SPIRIT DAY: Wear Red or Pink Day February 11 – Popcorn Fundraiser delivery (Orders can be placed at healthyhunger.ca up to February 7) February 12 – NO SCHOOL – Teachers’ Convention February 13 – NO SCHOOL – Teachers’ Convention February 16 – NO SCHOOL – Family Day March 6 – Last day for Purdys Chocolatier Fundraiser orders

 Literacy: We worked on stories! Students have been doing a fabulous job working on descriptive writing. This week students used this picture prompt to write a short story.  Math: We finished up addition and subtraction (Show What You Know's were sent home on Friday!) and started on statistics. This week we focused on Stem and Leaf plots.  Science: We focused on exploring these curricular outcomes: Buoyant force is an upward force exerted by a fluid that opposes the weight of anything placed in the fluid.   When the buoyant force is greater than the weight of an object, the object will float.   When the buoyant force is less than the weight of an object, the object will sink.  We did two science experiments this week. The first experiment was to observe and compare the buoyancy of various natural and manmade objects in water.
