October 1-3

Short Week! Here's a look at what we did!

Literacy:

We continued working on writing paragraphs. Students are focusing on adding strong topic and conclusion sentences, details, and transition words. Students are also focused on editing for capital letters, punctuation and spelling. Here is our current grading rubric if you would like to continue practicing at home!

This week's topics included:

What did you do on the long weekend?

What makes a strong leader? What can you do this year to be leaders at our school?

Mini Books:

Here's a video on how you can make mini books at home!

Numeracy:

We continued learning about place value. Students worked on comparing and ordering various numbers up to the millions and down to the thousandths. We did math stations to review what we have learned so far.

Students did a Show What You Know!

This is our current rubric for place value:

Science :
Students reviewed what we have already learned about Earth Systems so far. We then started learning about different tools used to measure various aspects of weather.

Art:
We continued working on bookmarks! On one side students painted Northern lights (to remind them of our school!) and on the other they wrote affirmations such as "I am special" or "I am important".

Social Emotional Learning:

Team building activity! Students worked in groups to build the tallest tower possible. For each card they put on they had to come up with something everyone had in common.

Important Information:

No school on Monday or until further notice. Hopefully we will be back together soon!
