November 3-7
Literacy:
Students started writing autobiographies. Ask your child if they know what the root words of autobiography are!
Math:
Students continued learning about and practicing coordinate geometry. Students should be able to locate and describe points on a coordinate grid using ordered pairs, and graphing shapes like polygons by plotting their vertices. Key terms include coordinate grid, coordinates, x-axis, y-axis, and origin.
Science:
Finishing up the weather systems unit. Students worked on a Show what You Know.
Social Studies:
We started exploring the dynamic relationships between people, place, and time supports understanding of perspectives and events to make meaning of the world. First, students learned about the different continents of the world and then learned about the provinces and territories of Canada to help build an understanding of where we are in the world related to other places we will be discussing in this unit.
Current events:
We discussed Remembrance Day and it's significance to us today. Students worked together to answer questions about notable Canadian Armed Forces events and discussed the importance of peace.
Buddies:
Students worked with their grade 2 buddies to make Remembrance day wreaths.
Art:
Students created stained glass inspired poppy fields in honour of Remembrance Day.

November 27 – Kinder to Grade Five – Evening Parent / Teacher / Student Learning Conferences
November 28 – Kinder to Grade Five – Daytime Parent / Teacher / Student Learning Conferences (No school for K-5)
